Stefan Wacha – Goldsmith & jewelry designer

Stefan Wacha is our chief designer. The Retina jewelry idea arose out of his urge to create something unique. A piece of jewelry that can only exist once, as it is tailor-made for each customer based on their retina (or their partner) and therefore cannot be duplicated. It is his favorite project, which he developed in 2016 and which he has since presented to a growing audience at numerous international trade fairs in Switzerland and abroad and therefore enjoys an ever-growing fan base.

Originally a biologist, he was looking for a creative challenge and found his calling in jewelry design and as a goldsmith. Together with his wife Marlen Wacha, he has been running their goldsmith’s workshop “kleine Rheinperle” in Basel since 2007, which occasionally also had branches in Zurich and Riehen.

Some time ago, mechanical wristwatches started to fascinate him. Whether hand-wound or automatic with complications – this started a completely new chapter as a challenge to expand our jewelry range with high-quality handcrafted and of course individualized Swiss wristwatches.

Our quality work is your added value!

As a goldsmith, he is one of the few who have mastered the old Japanese goldsmithing technique Mokume Gane, with which he combines several colored precious metals (gold, platinumsilver) to create jewelry creations, each and every time unique.

CAD jewelry designs are his other true calling. The possibilities are endless for creating jewelry designs and as a customer, you can enjoy a photo-realistic 3D animation that enables you to see exactly what you can expect before placing your order.

We have mastered modern and traditional techniques

At the microscope of our modern laser, we spend many hours in highly concentrated work in order to carry out delicate repairs even on delicate pieces of jewelry, where soldering is not possible due to sensitive gemstones or valuable pearls.

Our own engraving laser engraves your pieces of jewelry with technical perfection and enables us to carry out your orders promptly without that your piece of jewelry has to leave our workshop.

Marlen Wacha – goldsmith & juwel setter

Marlen Wacha is goldsmith and sets all different kinds of precious stones, including diamonds, sapphires, rubies, turmalines and so on.

Her fine hands and patience give your piece of jewelry the perfect final touch.

She is able to finish complicated orders using traditional techniques as well as high-tech machines. Whenever creative solutions are needed, her input is most valuable in order to combine the best out of the two Wacha-brains, so our customers benefit from the maximum support and each solution contains a male as well as a female part.

Our Motto

„In a time of fast pace, mass production and  online over stimulation, we would like to set a counterpoint with our art of jewelry creation. Individuality should be cherished and equally expressed but still kept secret from the broad mass.“
